- Energy used (kWh) = Watts × Hours ÷ 1,000

How to Find an Appliance’s Wattage
You can find an appliance's wattage rating in several places:

Watts, kW and kWh
To accurately understand your usage, it is important to distinguish between power and energy:
- Watts measure instantaneous power.
- 1 kilowatt equals 1,000 watts.
- kWh (kilowatt-hour) measures energy consumed over time.
In many regions, one electricity unit refers to one kWh. Remember that 1 kW is not the same as one electricity unit. However, a 1 kW appliance running continuously for one hour uses exactly 1 kWh (one unit) of energy.
